Total Loss Contingency Plans

Home > Engineering & Planning > Overview > Total Loss Contingency Plans

The Security and Emergency Measures (Water and Sewerage Undertakers) Direction 1998 and subsequent guidance issued by DEFRA require plans to ensure the provision of essential water supply and to endeavour to maintain a piped water supply.

We are experienced in producing manuals for the recovery from a Total Loss of a key Asset for several months. The process includes the following:

  • Clarify the scenario
  • Work in partnership with client organisation drawing together information from several branches of the business
  • Produce diagrammatic solutions
  • Provide menus of options for variable scenarios
  • Present options logically e.g. in resource, treatment and distribution categories
  • List pre-incident actions required
  • Itemise incident management actions with timescales for implementation
  • Include detailed plans

The resulting document is an "off the shelf" manual with a "how to use" section that is intended to complement and supplement the Incident Response Plans in order to provide an overall Acceptable Level of Response Plan. The manuals are produced in a clear, concise and consistent format approved and supported by Client personnel, incorporating their experience and knowledge.

The document is formatted so as to be compatible with the Client business management system. They provide reassurance in the event of a major incident and have been reviewed and endorsed in SEMD audits.
