Code for Sustainable Homes
Since May 2008, obtaining a rating against the Code is mandatory for ALL new build homes in England.
In Wales, since September 2009, developments of 5 or more dwellings and housing promoted or supported by the Welsh Assembly Government will need to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
The code does not yet apply to Scotland.
The Code measures the sustainability of a new home against nine categories of sustainable design, rating the 'whole home' as a complete package. Using a 1 to 6 star rating system, it communicates the overall sustainability performance of a new home, setting a number of mandatory elements which must be attained in order to gain a rating.
Waterco has experience in providing reports showing how to fulfil the mandatory elements and attain the available credits for SUR1 (Surface Water Run-off) and SUR2 (Flood Risk). These are both in Category 4 - Management of Surface Water Run-off from developments.
