Having approved the calculation methodology with the EA prior to commencement, we used IOH 124 (as the catchment was < 0.5 Ha) to calculate the flood flows for the 1 in 2, 30, 100 return periods. The catchment area was taken from FEH CD-ROM v3.

As part of ‘National Flood Risk Awareness Week' (1st – 5th November 2010), Waterco Ltd members of staff will wear their wellies to work on Friday 5th November to raise funds for the National Flood Forum charity which provides support and advice to communities, individuals and businesses that have been flooded or at the risk of flooding.


 

This autumn marks the 10th anniversary of the Great Autumn Floods of 2000, when North Wales featured in the national news for its severe flooding during the wettest period of rainfall in the UK since records began.

We presented a brief recap on how the long term challenge is to produce Flood Risk Management Plans, which determines long term strategies. We then focused on how policy is currently being put into practice for new developments. Three case studies were presented: tidal breach assessment; river flood modelling; and the impact of pluvial flooding on an area 'not on the flood map'.
