Initial Bid Designs

 

Purpose

Provide initial scheme layout/schedule for the purpose of budget and pricing.

Items Required by the Client

  • Location i.e. site address with post code

  • Name of local water authority

  • Site layout drawing detailing proposed development, access roads, car parks etc. (With indication of other utility routes, if possible)

  • Expected uses/no of meters/properties incl. expected sprinkler/fire hoses if available

  • Height of buildings/no of storeys if available

  • Point of Connection reference, expiry date and details

  • Ground Contamination info, if available.

Included items

  • Initial design in accordance with WRC Self-Laying of Water Mains and Services 2nd Edition and specific water company addenda/guidance.

  • Initial layout drawing showing potential route, size and material of water main/s with valves, hydrants and washouts and location of service connections.

  • Schedule listing principal lengths, sizes, materials, no. of valves and hydrants and assumptions made at this stage.

  • Estimate to complete the detailed design and obtain design approval from the water company.

Excluded items

  • Site visit

  • Topographical survey

  • Service enquiries and investigations

  • Routes of water services

  • Standard Details drawing

  • Adoption Plan.

  • Design Risk Assessment Summary and Design Risk assessment.

  • Completion and submission of Water company application forms

  • Liaison with water company to obtain design approval.

  • Liaison with Fire Service.
