On Monday 12th February, Welsh Government hosted a Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) in Wales workshop at their Llandudno Junction offices.
The purpose of the day was to raise awareness of schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, the timetable for implementation and the practical implications of the SuDS Approval Process. The event was well-attended by representatives from Local Authorities, DCWW, NRW, Developers and Consultants.
Whilst the consultation period is still open until 15th February 2018, the intention is that Schedule 3 and SuDS Approval Bodies (SAB) will be implemented in Wales by November of this year.
The new SAB may charge a fee for an application for approval determined as follows (a) £350 for each application; and (b) an additional amount up to £7,500 calculated by a reference to the size of the construction area and the diagram below highlights how increasingly important drainage considerations for new developments in Wales are going to be moving forward.
Please get in touch with one of the Waterco team if you’d like to discuss your upcoming developments to ensure SuDS and the SAB are fully considered.
